Putting graphics on Genealogytrails.com sites without having to copy files to individual county directories.

In order to save server space and speed up viewing of pages, it's beneficial to use the graphics that are stored on the GT graphics page at: http://genealogytrails.com/graphics/  Here's how to do it:

It's easiest if you're using Firefox or Seamonkey as your browser so I'll cover that method first.

Simply browse to http://genealogytrails.com/graphics and find the graphic you are wanting to use.

Right click on the image and select "copy image location".

Then "paste" that URL in the html page code where you want the image to appear.

Depending on how you want the image to appear, your html code segment may be something like:

  <p ><img src="http://genealogytrails.com/graphics/anniversarylogo.gif" width="155" height="148"></p>

This is the code that puts the anniversary logo at the top of this page.

To use Netscape, if that's your browser of choice, you can right-click on the selected image, but Netscape doesn't have the "copy image location" feature. What you do instead is use the "View Image" option from the right click menu and copy the image URL from the address line near the top of the browser window.

Then "paste" that URL in the html page code where you want the image to appear.

Depending on how you want the image to appear, your html code segment may be something like:

  <p ><img src="http://genealogytrails.com/graphics/anniversarylogo.gif" width="155" height="148"></p>

Internet Explorer works, too, but, as usual, MS doesn't like to make it as easy. Again, navigate to the image that you want and right click, but, in this case select "properties" and copy the URL from that window.

Then "paste" that URL in the html page code where you want the image to appear.

Depending on how you want the image to appear, your html code segment may be something like:

  <p ><img src="http://genealogytrails.com/graphics/anniversarylogo.gif" width="155" height="148"></p>
